New Zealand Job Description
Job Function:
Employee will perform all duties related to truck and combine operation in the accomplishment of grain harvest. S/he shall also perform safety checks of equipment on a daily basis to ensure efficient and safe operation. Employee shall also comply with all laws, regulations and accepted practices in the field and on public roads and highways.

Duties & Responsibilities:
General
Understand prevention of field fires and operation of fire extinguishers
Operate 2-way radio with a clear voice and reply when addressed. Ask for information to be repeated if required.
Assist other crew members at all times with equipment maintenance and repair
Assist with work around shop, house or farm when not in field
Combine Operation
Load and unload combine onto a combine trailer, ensuring that the machine is properly secured and safe for transport. Check that combine trailer lights (clearance, stop and turn) are functioning, observe tire condition and maintain proper pressure, maintain safety retaining device attachment and check brake condition/operation.
Become completely familiar with all safety devices on combine. Perform all pre-operation maintenance including lubrication, adjustments and refueling.
Undertake routine maintenance such as replacement of bearings, bolts and sickle repair or replacement.
Operate machine in accordance with manufacturer's handbook to ensure crops are properly threshed to obtain maximum grain yield. Always operate the machine in a safe manner, paying special attention to fixed objects such as other machines, trucks, grain carts, utility poles, high voltage electrical wires and fence lines. Ensure that combine is completely shut off prior to the start of any maintenance.
Truck
Perform pre-operational check of all fluid levels including oil, coolant, hydraulic and gearbox lubricant. Check tires for inflation, condition and perform repair/replacement as required. Check entire lighting system to ensure that all lights function properly. Replace bulbs and perform minor electrical system repairs as required.
Operate truck in a safe manner at all times, paying special attention to road width, traffic and shoulder condition. Ensure that each load is properly tarped to prevent grain loss. When driving to the scales, at the elevator, exercise special precaution to avoid rapid stops. If using straight truck, check overhead obstructions when unloading and do not move the truck until the bed is fully down and the PTO disengages. If driving a semi-trailer, check traps after parking in field to ensure that they are closed.
Maintain log of elevator grain tickets and hand copies to the designated person at the end of the day.
Clean cabs daily and dispose of trash. When time is available, trucks and pickups will be washed and waxed.
Will be responsible for any and all repairs to trucks with supervision.
Report all maintenance problems and needed repairs.
Other Duties
Perform other duties related to the position such as washing, cleaning and waxing of equipment. Operate a farm tractor and/or grain cart as required.
Special Requirements:
Possess a valid state drivers license to operate a commercial truck
Have a clean driving record that would not preclude being insured
Have no untreatable allergies that could impair his/her physical condition
May be required to live in travel trailer or crew trailer. If such accommodations are used, employee will be required to perform household type maintenance to ensure that the trailer is clean, safe and sanitary
Must be physically capable of heavy lifting and working long hours
Will be required to perform his/her own laundry duty to ensure that clean clothing is worn each day
No alcoholic beverages are allowed while driving, no drugs are allowed at any time, and no smoking is allowed in any vehicle or accommodation
Employees are subject to drug and alcohol testing at an time
